Cobhams ministering backed up by the Lagos Community Gospel Choir on Sunday

Last Sunday night Lagos Gospel Community Choir and several artistes came together for an evening that held all in attendance in awe of the presence of God.

When Zjolt arrived the event at a couple of minutes to 5pm, a good number were already seated with many still coming in.
As we waited for the evening with one of Lagos’ fantastic choirs, our expectations heightened as a video of Mariam Anazodo’s interview with several artistes billed to minister for the night playing on the big screen.

Tosin Martins said it was going to be an extraordinary evening, Lara George said Gospel music’s standard had risen to another level and her sound had evolved.  Tim Godfrey, wearing a double hat as Choir Director of LCGC and an artiste also billled for the night, said it was going to revive people’s perspective about choral music, we believed it all.

The event started soon enough and we knew we would have a great time.

The programme kicked off at 5:55pm with an introduction of One Nation Band, the instrumentalists for the Lagos Gospel Community Choir before the choir themselves, numbering about 60 filed out.

The audience did not have to wait long for the before the excitement to begin, as it was a blast from the start.

Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus ,rendered with an African rhythm,  by the choir set the ball rolling for the evening followed by the rendition of Nigeria’s  National Anthem in fantastic fashion.

There were performances by BOUQUI, Modele and Tosin Martins who all ministered in that order, with the choir backing them up, before a short break.

At the short break, there was a video presentation of the outreach efforts which the God Bless Nigeria Church to drug addicts under the Apapa Bridge and Marina bridges in Lagos.

The presentation left many in tears as they were thankful to God for the power of rehabilitation while we all took a moment to remember the often forgotten in our society.

After the break Cobhams had an amazing performance on the piano singing the hymn Are You Washed in the Blood? After which he ministered ‘Make Our Hearts Your Home’ and ‘You are God’ with the Lagos Community Gospel Choir.

Panam Percy Paul led the gathering to the presence of God with his songs ‘Bring Down Your Glory , ‘We must praise Him in the African Way’ and ‘Come Let’s Praise The Lord’ which turned out to be one of the high points of the night.

Performances from Eben, and Tim Godfrey shook the audience as they got them to energetically praise God with their respective ministrations as they led the congregation in dancing, while Timi Dakolo’s Great Nation song and a performance by Lara George and the Lagos Community Gospel Choir sealed the night.

Everyone came out to see that it was raining. Showers of Blessings? No one complained. The awesomeness of God just does that to you, it makes even seemingly big problems small.

He got us home safely.
