PM News, a Lagos based evening daily newspaper this evening reports that the leadership of Deeper Christian Life Ministries has suspended John Kumuyi, son of General Superintendent W.F Kumuyi, along with his Wife Favour, over their wedding ceremony on June 15 which had several ‘elements’ which were not in line with the beliefs of the ministry.
The suspension, according to PM News, was announced by Pastor Philip Oluwi, a prominent leader of the church, at the church’s monthly revival and miracle programme. The couple is facing disciplinary action for ‘the embarrassment they brought upon the church during the wedding’.
“The church, Deeper Life, remains committed to the biblical practice and standard of almost 40 years Christian dressing and still remains and does not compromise on Christian dressing. Hence deviation warrants the displeasure of God and and frown of the leadership of the church. John and Love are now under discipline.” Pastor Oluwi said.
Some offenses the couple are said to have committed include Love’s wedding gown which wasn’t such as would have been approved by Deeper Life (it was too short), her use of makeup (including a lip stick), and her hair which wasn’t natural. Other offenses are the hiring of a limousine to convey the couple after the wedding and a huge cake cut during the ceremony both of which conflict the church’s stance of moderation during wedding ceremonies.
The wedding which took place in Jamaica wasn’t conducted in a Deeper Life Church (as the church’s branch in Jamaica hasn’t received a go-ahead by the state to conduct wedding ceremonies), which has drawn criticism from members of the church in addition to sparking debate on social media in the past week.
Meanwhile John and Love Kumuyi have written the church to apologize over the incident. In a letter titled “Letter of Apology” read severally to the congregation by Pastor Jerry Asemota, who is the secretary of the church, the couple apologized to the congregation, the leadership and the General Superintendent, Pastor Kumuyi for their conduct during the ceremony. They have also taken full responsibility for their action, appealing for the disciplinary action to be reversed.
John Kumuyi is one of two sons born to Pastor W.F Kumuyi by his former wife, Aduke who passed on in April 2009 from an illness. Love Kumuyi (nee Odih) is said to be daughter of the National Overseer in Jamaica.

this is really a blow on deeperlife church but no matter what, christainity race base on personality……
God’s standard remain the same but I believe God is pointing at something the eyes of this church are not opened to. Let them take time to go through the scriptures again.

the strength of every ministry depends on the leadership. and it is better to be united and be wrong than to be divided and be right.
humanbeings must recognize that the church is still the body and the wife of Christ, though it can somewhat be managed by a man but the Owner reserves the sole right to change the management at His Will.
He seek for discipline. So he has recognised his mistakes, no big deal

were they not counselled, seen by the marriage cttee.before they proceeded to the church; who joined them; why were they not sent away in first instance, to correct their wrong? these people grew in the church, knows the stands of the church yet they this; because they aready planned what to do. hope they are not leading a new move of GRACE!

people should not be discouraged cos of what happened….the standard of christian dressing being upheld by the church is for our own good to curb worldliness and excesses among believers,,since they have recognized their mistakes and apologized we move on…looking unto the JESUS the author and finisher of our faith..Jesus died leaving us examples to follow…Lets look onto Jesus as a role model

D lady went a little overboard, but seriously wats bad in wearing a wedding gown in Jamaica, it’s nt Nigeria u knw.
